  • Mon, Mar. 30 - 6:30 pm

    A new format is planned for a program featuring candidates for Springfield City Council and Mayor, co-sponsored by the Neighborhood Advisory Council and the MSU Center for Civic Engagement. “Candidate-ing,” similar to speed networking, will allow attendees to move from candidate to candidate with questions provided by the League—or their own. A League timekeeper will keep each round going.

  • Thu, Apr. 2 - 6:30 pm

    “The Informed Voter” is an educational forum that will focus on the ballot issue on sexual orientation and gender identity. Dan Wichmer, city attorney for the City of Springfield, will explain the ballot language, what will happen if the issue is approved and what will happen if it is repealed. The second part of the forum, “Compare and Contrast,” will feature Mayor Shelley Welsch of University City who will share how a similar ordinance is working there. University City is a first ring suburb of the City of St. Louis. The program is designed to provide answers to basic voter questions. It is co-sponsored by the MSU Center for Civic Engagement.

    Both candidates for April 7the election for Mayor of the City of Stillwater, Charles Hopkins and Gina Noble, will speak and take questions at this forum.

  • Sat, Apr. 25 - 6:00 pm

    Speakers: Chippewa County Road Commission, MI Rep. Chatfield, MI Senator Schmidt, Lake Superior State University, and League of Women Voters of Michigan.
