Help Get Candidates to Answer our Questions!

A Call to Action

Voters deserve to hear directly from all candidates running for office in their communities.

Every election, the League of Women Voters produces nonpartisan voter guides designed to help voters understand where candidates stand on the issues voters care most about. To make our guides, we ask candidates about voters’ most pressing questions and share their answers word for word.

These guides empower voters with the information they need to choose who will best represent them.  2024 will be a pivotal election for our democracy, and voters need to hear from every candidate. However, despite repeated outreach from the League and VOTE411, some candidates have not yet answered our questions. That’s where you come in.

These candidates rely on your vote to gain office. If you speak up, they’ll listen.

The more voters who contact candidates, the more likely they are to fill out their voter guides! Together we can hold candidates accountable for providing us with the information we need.

Here’s how to do it:

Post to your socials using our toolkit!

With the 2024 presidential election underway, we’re asking all candidates for our nation’s highest office to respond to voters’ questions.

See which candidates have responded. If they haven’t done so:

  1. Click their candidate profile
  2. Find their social media profiles under their picture on the left-hand side of their page
  3. Tag them in a post demanding that they respond to VOTE411’s voter guide!

VOTE411 is committed to ensuring voters have the information they need to successfully participate in every election. Whether it's local, state, or federal, every election is important to ensure our laws and policies reflect the values and beliefs of our communities. On VOTE411, you can register to vote, see what's on your ballot, and see where your candidates stand on the issues that matter in your community. For voters to be informed about the candidates on our ballot, we must hear from the candidates themselves.

All candidate responses to our questions come directly from the candidates and are unedited by the League of Women Voters. The League does not support or oppose any candidates or parties.

Each candidate in the VOTE411 voter guide is invited to answer, in their own words, our candidate questions. Candidates who speak directly to voters through our online guide ensure an accurate representation of their views.

Since its inception in 2006, VOTE411 has provided tens of millions of voters with the information they need before Election Day. When a candidate fails to answer our questions, voters are left uninformed before casting their ballots.

Thank you for helping us encourage candidates to respond to our questions so that voters have as much information as possible!

Did the candidate respond to the voter guide after you contacted them? Consider thanking them for participating! You can send them a message on social media or even write a letter or email to them.
