Montana Ballot Cure Process

The deadline to cure (correct) your absentee/mail ballot is by 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 8th, 2022. Election administrators will contact you via letter, phone, or email if any errors are found. The notice will likely include the necessary information and instructions to correct your ballot on time.

Maryland Ballot Cure Process

If you voted a provisional ballot, the deadline to prove where you live or provide a copy of your ID is Wednesday, November 16th, 2022 (before 10am).  For your ballot to count, you must submit a copy of a current and valid Maryland driver's license or MVA ID card, student, employee, or military ID, U.S. passport; or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document with your name and current address. Current means that the document is dated within 3 months of the election.

Iowa Ballot Cure Process

The county commissioner's office will contact you within 24 hours if there are any deficiencies with your absentee ballot. If your ballot has been rejected, you may vote a replacement ballot until November 7th, 2022 or vote in person at your polling location before the official close of polls.

Indiana Ballot Cure Process

The deadline to cure (correct) your absentee ballot is noon on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022. Your county election board will notify you if there is a missing signature or a signature mismatch with your ballot and include instructions on how to file an affidavit to correct the issue. If you cast a provisional ballot due to not having the proper photo identification, you may appear before the county clerk before noon on November 16th with your valid photo ID and fill out a form to correct the issue.

Florida Ballot Cure Process

THIS INFORMATION MAY BE UPDATED DUE TO THE ONCOMING HURRICANE. The deadline to cure (correct) your absentee ballot is by 5pm on November 10th, 2022. If your signature is missing or does not match the one on record, the Supervisor of Elections will contact you, and you may complete and return a “Vote-by-Mail Ballot Cure” Affidavit (English PDF/ Spanish PDF) along with a copy of your identification to resolve the issue.

Illinois Ballot Cure Process

The deadline to cure (correct) your absentee ballot is by Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022. The county will notify you if your ballot has been rejected and you have until the 14th day after the election to provide your local election authority with evidence as to why your ballot should not be rejected. If you voted by provisional ballot, you may submit additional information to your local election officials. Any additional information must be received no later than the close of business on the Thursday following Election Day.

DC Ballot Cure Process

The deadline to cure (correct) your absentee ballot is by 4:45pm on November 15th, 2022. If there is a signature mismatch or missing signature, you will receive a letter from the DC Board of Elections (BOE), and you can sign the certificate enclosed in the letter and return it to the DCBOE.

Colorado Ballot Cure Process

The deadline to cure (correct) your absentee ballot is 11:59pm on Monday, November 14th, 2022. If your local election official notifies you that your mail-in ballot was rejected due to signature discrepancies or other issues, you may use the TXT2Cure platform to help resolve it. California Ballot Cure Process

If you did not sign your absentee ballot envelope, you have until 5 pm on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, to submit an unsigned ballot statement to local officials to correct (cure) the issue. If you need to correct a signature mismatch, you have until 5 pm two days prior to certification of the election (December 7-8, 2022). Election administrators will contact you via letter, phone, or email if any errors are found with your ballot at least eight days prior to the certification of the election with details and instructions on how to make corrections on time.
