Register to Vote

You can register any time during the year. Your form must be submitted at least 10 days before the next election for it to be effective for that election. If you are registering by mail, your forms must be postmarked by 15 days prior to the election and received by 10 days prior to the election. Please contact the New York State Board of Elections for specific times and locations.

You may be able to register to vote online! If you are currently in the DMV system you may be able to register and/or update your registration online. You will need:

  • NYS driver license, permit, or non-driver ID card
  • ZIP Code currently on record with the DMV
  • Social security number

If you do not have a New York driver's license you can use the paper form to complete your registration.
